Book Series Update

Several weeks ago I asked my Facebook followers to vote for which project they would prefer I finish first, the next book in the series or the audio book for the first. I didn't get much response so I had to decide myself. I chose to finish the audio book but with work and other issues I ended up having more time and energy for writing and not enough time or energy for recording the audio book. The audio book is a lot of hard work because it can take several hours to complete just one hour of quality recorded material. I still plan on finishing the audio but the completion date has been pushed back a little bit farther.

That being said, I am getting closer to finishing the second book, Time Traveler's Rock: White Buffalo. I have a little over 31,000 words typed. The first book was 36,000 words when I finished but I have plans for book #2 to be a little bit longer than the first. I expect to have the first draft of White Buffalo finished long before Christmas so get ready for the big event. I'm talking with a couple of different artists trying to come up with an attention grabbing book cover like the first one. I can't wait to get that finished.

I am also considering some publisher changes and have a dilemma. I need to slightly change the title of the first book. I need to add something at the end of the title so I can keep it as close as possible to the original but still be different. I am open for suggestions and if someone makes a suggestion that I end up using, that person will be the first to get to read White Buffalo after it has gone through all of my editing processes.

Let's see who can come up with the best idea. And it helps if you have read the book. :-)

Time Traveler's Rock: Flaming Eagle's __________.
Fill in the blank and either post your comment on my Facebook page or here on the blog.

Thanks,
Rick

  1. Congrats on your continued success. If you are considering a different publisher than your first book, there are a lot of factors to consider, cost being a major one. I suggest you talk with other, already published writers for their feedback on important factors such as ease of working with them, costs to you, ISBN number availability & cost among others. You know several published writers through meet-up groups, so you should meet with them first. If possible, show up for the meeting on Friday where we met to ask a LOT of questions. Hope to see you there. And good luck!

    1. Thank you, Bob. It was another great meeting tonight and to find out the other Bob is having the same issues was unexpected. As always I learned a lot tonight. Looking forward to the next meeting.

  2. I have not had anyone reply with suggestions for the title change yet. Doesn't anyone want to be the first to read the next book?
